Parco Tematico dell'Aviazione 2019

Every time that I travel out of the country, whether it be for work or pleasure, I look for something aviation related to photograph. So when a work trip to Italy was scheduled for early January, I took to the internet to see if there was anything in the area. As I only had free time on a Sunday directly after the Christmas & New Year holidays, my only real option was to visit a museum.

The Parco Tematico dell'Aviazione (Aviation Theme Park) came up as my only real option, with the added bonus that it was on the way to San Marino (I also collect countries) so I was able to photograph planes AND buy a new fridge magnet on the same day.

The park, which is located on a hilly slope, was opened in 1995 and has 100,000 square metres of exhibition space with 50 aircraft on display.

The aircraft on display are quite varied, including such types as the Fiat G.91, Gloster Javelin, Grumman S-2 Tracker, Ilyushin Il-28 Beagle, LTV A-7 Corsair, Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-21 Fishbed, Mil Mi-2 Hoplite, North American F-86 Sabre and the Piaggio P.166.

The park is worth a visit of in the area, and as mentioned already, it is on a hilly slope, so the photo possibilities are different to "normal" aviation museums which are normally on flat ground.
