While in Donnington Park for the British Moto GP I paid a quick visit to the East Midlands Aeropark which is adjacent to East Midlands Airport.

The AVA (Aeropark Volunteers Association) was formed with the help of the Local Councils of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire. The Aeropark is located at the North Western corner of the airfield close to the Donington Park Motor Racing Circuit.

During recent years a genuine World War II Romney building as been erected on site by the AVA. The building houses a working display area, aviation memorabilia and artefacts, office, stores and a toilet block.

The Aeropark also includes a viewing mound parallel to the runway at East Midlands Airport and remains one of the regions top aviation attractions, offering uninterrupted views of aircraft on the runway and taxiways. There are plans in place for the viewing mound to be extended to give better views of the aircraft on the apron.

The Aeropark mostly displays aircraft of British origin, including the following aircraft: Argosy, Meteor TT.20, Vulcan B.2, Lightning F.53, Britten SA.1 Sheriff, Chipmunk T.10, Dove, Jet Provost T.4, Meteor NF13 (cockpit), Gazelle, Vampire T.11, Sea Venom FAW22, Canberra PR.7 (cockpit), Canberra T.17, Hunter T.7, Hunter GA.11, Hunter FR.10, Buccaneer S.2B, Spitfire IX (FSM), Vanguard 953C (cockpit), Varsity T.1, Viscount 807 (cockpit), V-1 flying bomb (FSM), Wessex HAS.1, Wessex HC.2, Wessex HU.5, Whirlwind Srs 3.
