Late last year, technology news website The Information opined that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) would likely make a big acquisition in 2018. It further named FireEye Inc (NASDAQ:FEYE) as the most plausible target. Owners of MSFT stock nodded at the compelling prospect but quickly moved on, knowing that only a handful of predicted buyouts ever actually come to fruition.
